A typical shortlist for a UK business leaving Sage, Xero or QuickBooks has NetSuite and Dynamics 365 on it, and two partners who each insist their product is the obvious answer. Both are capable. They suit different businesses, and the comparison is often muddled because "Dynamics 365" covers two very different products. This guide untangles that and compares them from the finance team's side, with prices and rates as checked on 17 October 2026.

Which Dynamics 365 Are You Comparing?
Microsoft sells two ERPs under the Dynamics 365 name. Business Central is the all-in-one system for small and mid-sized businesses, covering finance, sales, purchasing, inventory and projects. Dynamics 365 Finance is the enterprise finance application, usually paired with Supply Chain Management, and built for groups with many entities, currencies and countries.
NetSuite sits much closer to Business Central in the market: one cloud suite for a growing business, with OneWorld adding multi-subsidiary and multi-currency capability. If a partner compares NetSuite with Dynamics 365 Finance, check whether you are really being offered an enterprise programme you may not need. Our Dynamics 365 Finance vs Business Central guide covers that choice in detail.
Where NetSuite Is the Stronger Choice
NetSuite was built as a cloud suite from the start, and it shows in how growing businesses use it. Adding a new subsidiary, currency or country is a configuration task in OneWorld rather than a new system, which is why it is common among fast-growing, venture-backed and multi-entity businesses that expect their structure to change every year.
It also asks less of your own IT. Upgrades arrive from Oracle on a set schedule, and the suite covers finance, order management, inventory and e-commerce without a large stack of separate products. For a finance team without an internal systems function, that simplicity is worth a lot. The trade-offs are that pricing is quoted rather than published, which makes budgeting harder, and that it sits outside the Microsoft 365 tools most finance teams spend their day in.
Where Dynamics 365 Is the Stronger Choice
Dynamics 365 is the natural choice when the business already runs on Microsoft 365. Finance teams live in Excel, Outlook and Teams, and an ERP from the same vendor sits alongside them more comfortably, with Copilot working across both. Microsoft lists Copilot as included in Business Central, and Dynamics 365 Finance Premium adds Copilot Credits and an account reconciliation agent, currently in preview.
The other advantages are transparency and a growth path. Microsoft publishes UK list prices, so you can model licence cost before a sales call, and the route from Business Central to Dynamics 365 Finance means a business that grows into real structural complexity can stay with one vendor. The partner market is large, which helps on price and availability but makes partner quality more variable, so take references.

Comparing Cost When Only One Side Publishes Prices
Microsoft's UK pricing pages list Business Central Essentials at £61.50 per user per month, Premium at £84.60 and Team Members at £6.20, with Dynamics 365 Finance at £161.50, all excluding VAT and billed yearly. Oracle does not publish NetSuite list prices; it quotes each customer for a base licence, user licences and modules. That is not a reason to rule NetSuite out, but it does mean you need a written quote for your exact user mix before comparing.
Compare total cost over three to five years rather than the first-year licence. Include implementation, data migration, integrations, annual price increases written into the contract, and the people you will need afterwards. On people, ITJobsWatch puts the UK contract median at £550 a day for NetSuite roles and £509 for a Dynamics 365 Consultant over the six months to 17 October 2026, so the difference in specialist cost is small. The bigger swing is usually how many days your chosen partner needs.
Finally, map your processes before either demo. A demo shows the product at its best; a process map shows where your business will actually test it, from intercompany to month-end close.
